Social and Emotional Development

Children develop positive self-esteem through the messages they receive, both spoken and unspoken, from adults in their lives. When they feel good about themselves and their abilities, they have confidence to learn new things.

Children need opportunities to work and play with other children to develop social skills needed for school. Getting along with others and knowing how to manage their behavior is critical to school success.
